of shoot

Four galleries — one for each kind of work on offer. Switch between them; every frame opens full-screen, and every shoot below is bookable.

Dance sessions

01–05 · Dance Sessions

Solos, headshots, and company work — in the studio or out in the city, built around how you actually move. The five frames here are pulled from the selected dance portfolio.

Fine art

01–08 · Fine Art Portraits

The dark-room work: hard light, real locations, and the person left in the picture. These are the frames that hang — the sittings are bookable, and the prints live in the store.

Weddings

01–05 · Weddings

Full days, shot quiet — the same eye as the dance work: candids that read like stills from a film, portraits in whatever hard light the day hands us. The five frames here are from one rooftop wedding on the water — one couple, one day, shot the way it felt. Chicago-based, travels.

Photobooks

Receipts · Vol. 1 · 2026

Receipts is the first book — twenty-one photographs, each facing its own poem, printed the way the pairs were made. This is the object itself: cover, spread, and a page from inside.

October, around six

every october around six the sun sits right on top of ashland like it's waiting for the bus. i drive straight into it, visor down, hand up, steering with my knee a little. i know. i know. it does this thing for like ten minutes where everything goes gold. the dumpsters. the bus stop. some guy's silver honda. all of it gold, like the street got dressed up and nobody told me.

05 — About

Performer first.
Camera second.

Tyler McAuley came to photography from the stage — acting training, years of performing, and a working life around dancers. It shows in the pictures.

Based in Chicago, he travels the country as an emcee for Edge National Talent, and shoots dancers, weddings, and fine-art portraits in between. Every photograph on this page is paired, somewhere, with a poem — the two have never been separate projects.
